Even though things were a bit slower for us, Lace Project sold jewelry and Gregory Bartning made connections with potential clients who want to work with him. Yay!

I thought I would post some pictures of the space in case you weren’t able to stop by and enjoy our famous Sangria.

As for this coming weekend it is Weekend 2 of Open Studios Open Saturday and Sunday 11am – 6pm.

Neighborhoods: Bayview, Excelsior, Financial District, North Beach, Potrero Hill, Russian Hill, SOMA, Tenderloin.

Capsule is also open this weekend. Every year Hayes Valley closes off the main streets down Octavia and Hayes Streets to honor Independent Designers and let the public shop. Open from 11am – 6pm you can see the list of designers and where they will be set up by clicking HERE. Looks like there are a lot of spots still available, so if you are a designer it isn’t too late to sign up!

Interesting article. More spaces are becoming popular in collaborative arts culture. It’s almost an Andy Warhol Factory Room, but for people who have to pay a fee to join with the ability to have access to multiple mediums in art. Printing, woodworking, weaving, jewelry design, welding, screen printing, and maybe most intriguing, a bartender who powers his blender by pedaling bicycle.  They were profitable even in a bad economy. I guess freelancing creative industry needs a time to thrive through collective big spaces. Talk about your connections!

Now, do any of you know of similar spaces who are making the million dollar marks in profits on the West Coast?

Well, we have had a full  fun run of the store in North Beach and these are our last and final days until we pack up shop until our next location pop’s up somewhere else in this wonderful city of San Francisco. Rankin 

Check out this voice video of Rankin and his new work. He is changing his work from photographing movie stars and models to people off the street. Inviting anyone to walk in off the sidewalk in front of his white seamless, he streams the photo to the computer and prints onsite to be hung for the Old Truman Gallery in London.

Instead of bringing the beauty out of models and movie stars, he is showing the beauty out of nurses, office workers, the “ordinary” public.  Gathering his idea from photographing people in the Congo, he wanted to not exploit the grief, which is often popular, but showing who those people really are, their essence, and their hope.
