Check out one of San Francisco’s hottest designers has in store for you at SFGallery143.com. She has won battles through SF Fashion Feud, rocked numerous runways. We still remember LOVE SICK with all that scantly laced lingerie. Daryl Hannah has even had some one-on-one private lessons on sewing with Alexandria. Did we mention she has her own camp couture for girls?

Alexandria von Bromssen is featuring some of her more classic pieces for us online check it out! She will also be featuring more designs not seen online for our Holiday store in North Beach. Alexandria sews everything herself and is now doing a small production run of each item (maybe 5 are available of each) so be sure to come to the Holiday Store before her unique items are gone forever.

When does she have time to sleep??? psst…I hear it’s 4am these days. : )

Why You Do What You Do? WYDWYD?

Special Event No Comments »

A couple weeks ago I found out about a great project that has been continually growing. WYDWYD is a site online where anyone can join and post a photograph with text answering the question.

The project will go to Burning Man as a huge collage of printed images. They also have localized events to inspire people. I attended Lower Haight’s TRUNK where Gregory Bartning was taking photographs of people who wanted to participate and post an instant image inside the Designer Co-Op.  You can also “join” the Lower Haight group online and post an image there at: www.wydwyd.com/trunksf

This was a great event for coming by and getting crafty with strangers.  It was very inspiring to see the work that has gone into some of these photographs. Some images were powerful and some were hilarious.  If you are in the city stop by and check it out at 544 haight st between steiner and fillmore st. Hurry! It will be coming down at the end of the month (10 days and counting).

Check out my answer! The bubble says “sale benefits artists”.

California Academy of Sciences Preview

Going Green, Special Event No Comments »

As a member of the California Academy of Sciences I was able to get a sneak peak of the new green building before its Grand Opening September 27th, this Saturday!  Check out the first green building to ever house an aquarium, planetarium, and museum under one roof!

I wanted to spread the word about this great place that shows how vital it is to gain knowledge of our oceans and earth. I appreciate so much those who support organic produce, fair trade, shopping locally, recycling, and supporting businesses that do their part in making our world a greener place. I hope these pictures motivate you to do the same and keep our earth beautiful.

Unfortunately, buying a 2 year membership and seeing the preview didn’t even allow us to see the Planetarium OR the Rain Forest Globe.  Hey, what’s up with that?? But I did enjoy everything else that was there. I also enjoyed the fact that I didn’t have to wait through a huge line of people to view the exhibits. So, if you can’t wait at least 6 months until the public dies down on visiting the space, here are some pictures to hold you over.

Visit the website at: http://www.calacademy.org/
